Running that extra mile: Rebecca’s journey to the London Marathon

This Sunday, our very own Rebecca is taking on the capitals iconic marathon – an achievement that once felt completely out of reach.

After earning her place through her local running club, Sale Dragons, Rebecca and DAY have seen this as a wonderful opportunity to give back and raise money for Manchester Mind.

This local mental health charity provides vital support to over 7,000 children, young people, and adults each year – a cause that holds special significance to Rebecca.

Rebecca’s passion for running has been one of resilience and growth, as she overcame personal obstacles, embraced mental health challenges, and built her confidence along the way. She shares, “What began as a way to cope became a way to heal. It taught me discipline, gave me clarity, and helped me grow into the most authentic version of myself.”

Crediting much of her progress to the incredible community surrounding her Rebecca expressed, “A huge part of this journey has been Sale Dragons, my local running club. It is more than just a club – it’s a family, filled with support, laughter, and encouragement. I wouldn’t be here without the amazing people who make up this family.”

"I'm incredibly grateful to my workplace, DAY, for their unwavering support. The flexibility, encouragement, and positivity I've received from the team have made marathon training an enjoyable and memorable experience"

Joe Morgan, DAY’s Board Director shared his thoughts: “Rebecca’s story has truly inspired us all. Her resilience and determination serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health support and of standing by our colleagues both in and outside the workplace.”

We are proud to be supporting Rebecca every step of the way – and we invite you to join us. If you’d like to back her and contribute to this meaningful cause, please visit our Just Giving page.
